About Disney+, The Role, & The Team 

 

Disney+ is The Walt Disney Company’s Direct to Consumer streaming service. Launched in EMEA in 2019 it includes long and short form content from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. In February 2021 it expanded its proposition in EMEA to include General Entertainment with a broad range of content targeted at adults. Then in 2024 it expanded further to include Sports.

  

The Disney+ team is responsible for the strategy and day-to-day commercial performance and operations of Disney+ across Europe and future market launches in Middle East and Africa.  

Reporting to the VP Marketing, Disney+ EMEA, and as a key member of the EMEA Marketing Management team, the Director Influencer and Social, Disney+EMEA, will lead a high performing regional social team and manage a network of agency partners to deliver best-in-class creative, data-driven campaigns and always-on storytelling. 

This is a highly visible, fast-paced role that demands strategic vision, creativity and operational excellence. The Director will combine deep expertise in influencers and wider social media with a passion for the most innovative and scroll-stopping content, delivering through strong leadership and stakeholder management skills. The Director will operate with autonomy, anticipate market trends, leverage emerging tools and tech, work in close partnership with social platforms and harness data to inform decision-making.  

Ultimately the Director will deliver social programs that are both creatively ambitious and commercially impactful, helping Disney+ continue to grow and connect with audiences across EMEA in bold and imaginative ways. 

This permanent position is based at our London Hammersmith office, requiring four days onsite each week, with the flexibility to work from home on either Monday or Friday.  

 

What You Will Do 

  • Responsible for shaping and elevating both the Influencer and the wider social presence of Disney+ across the region.  

  • Define & own the end-to-end Disney+ EMEA Brand & Content influencer & social strategy for our platform & our general entertainment content, developing a social playbook for Disney+, that defines audience strategies, testing frameworks & measurement, aligned to global goals & local business needs. 

  • Lead an integrated Social Media approach, with a specific focus on evolving the regional strategy and creative focus for our owned channels across EMEA. 

  • Oversee the full spectrum of paid and organic social activity, setting the strategic direction for how Disney+ engages audiences, builds content buzz and drives engagement through influencers and social platforms at scale. 

  • Oversee planning and delivery of best-in-class social campaigns for some of the biggest and most-loved TV shows across owned, earned and paid channels – from UK Originals such as Rivals and A Thousand Blows, to tentpole US shows such as Ryan’s Murphy’s All’s Fair and the return of Percy Jackson, to some of our most beloved long running series such as Grey’s Anatomy and Modern Family. 

  • Influence senior stakeholders across the broader Walt Disney Company, partnering closely with global colleagues in the U.S. to align regional execution with global priorities while championing local innovation and cultural relevance. 

  • Work in very close collaboration with the Director of Comms, Events and Talent Management, and together oversee our strategy across the complete owned and earned estate for the Disney+ platform & our incredible general entertainment content. 

  • Work in close partnership with TWDC’s central Social & Influencer team, who oversee companywide social & influencer governance, prioritisation, & strategy as well as Studio campaigns for branded content and the broader TWDC portfolio.  

Experience & Role Requirements 

  • Significant Social, Digital Marketing or Media experience at Leadership level. 

  • Proven experience at scale in media, streaming, entertainment, or consumer media brands (or agency-side managing streaming/media clients). 

  • Expert in developing and scaling impactful influencer strategies and creative campaigns which have delivered measurable results 

  • Demonstrable track record of owning both paid and organic social strategy and driving measurable business outcomes (subscriptions, engagement, retention). 

  • Track record in managing large regional budgets and multi-market campaigns. 

  • Experienced people leader, building, developing and leading large cross-functional teams in a matrix organisation  

  • Experience managing multiple agencies and running agency selection/RFPs. 

 

Technical / Platform Skills 

  • Deep knowledge of social ad platforms and tools (Meta/Business Manager, TikTok Ads, YouTube for Action, X Ads, Snapchat Ads, measurement/attribution tools). 

  • Strong analytics competency — able to interpret cohort analysis, LTV, MMM and use them to shape media strategy. 

  • Familiarity with creative production workflows, community management tools, and influencer/creator platforms.

  • Crisis calm, experienced in social governance and rapid response. 

  • Autonomous operator, self-starter who can set priorities and deliver with minimal supervision
