IT Coordinator - Film Production - Expression of Interest
Job Summary:
We are seeking highly organised, proactive and technically skilled IT Coordinators to join our Production Technology ecosystem, supporting a growing slate of UK and EMEA based film and episodic productions.
These roles offer a front-row view of large-scale feature film and series production at one of the world's premier studio facilities. You will gain hands-on exposure to cutting-edge production technology workflows spanning editorial, VFX, streaming and on-set systems, while ensuring seamless technology support from initial prep through principal photography, to post-production, delivery and wrap.
As an IT Coordinator, you are the primary on-the-ground technology partner for your production - responsible for keeping workstations, networks, editorial infrastructure, streaming and review systems, and communication tools running reliably in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. You will work closely with the Production Technology programme team, studio engineering, third-party vendors and production crew to deliver stable, secure and repeatable technical environments tailored to each show.
The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, remains calm while troubleshooting during critical moments, and understands that production schedules leave no room for ambiguity or downtime. You will join a team that values clear documentation, defined ownership, and proactive problem-solving over reactive firefighting.
Typical production environments include:
- Purpose-built stage facilities with dedicated network infrastructure
- Location and remote shoots requiring temporary or mobile connectivity solutions
- Editorial suites with specialist storage, playback and review systems
Successful candidates who meet the required criteria may be recommended to productions as freelance IT Coordinators. Assignments may involve supporting a single production or multiple concurrent shows.
Please note: These roles are contracted directly by individual productions and are not employed by Disney.
Key Responsibilities
General
You will coordinate with external vendors for hardware procurement, equipment rentals, network provisioning and managed services - ensuring delivery aligns with production milestones. Acting as the production-side technical liaison, you will translate creative and operational requirements into clear, actionable requests for studio engineering, content security and enterprise IT teams.
You will:
- Monitor and manage production technology budgets
- Ensure compliance with content security requirements
- Develop and maintain production-specific IT documentation, including network diagrams, equipment inventories, troubleshooting guides and runbooks
Production Office & Infrastructure
You will set up, configure and maintain production office workstations and user environments. Responsibilities include supporting production network infrastructure (VLANs, Wi-Fi and wired connectivity), integrating with studio backbone networks and supporting shared storage systems such as Avid Nexis, NAS/SAN platforms and cloud storage used across editorial, VFX and production departments.
You will also:
- Manage user accounts, permissions and software licensing
- Ensure alignment with enterprise identity and access management policies
- Coordinate WAN connectivity, firewall rules and site-wide network integration with studio engineering teams
On-Set IT Support
You will provide hands-on support for on-set technology, including wireless networks, video village connectivity, data wrangling stations and dailies playback systems. This includes ensuring reliable internet connectivity on location by coordinating with third-party ISPs, venue IT teams and mobile connectivity providers for unit base, hotels and remote sets.
During shooting hours, you will troubleshoot and resolve issues with laptops, monitors, tablets, peripherals and network connectivity - maintaining constant awareness that downtime directly impacts the shooting schedule.
You will also:
- Support camera-to-editorial workflows including data ingest and media management
- Maintain connectivity to post-production pipelines
- Manage radio frequency coordination to avoid on-set interference
Editorial & Post-Production Technology
You will support editorial environments running Avid Media Composer with shared Nexis storage, including workspace configuration, connectivity troubleshooting and workflow support. You will assist in setting up and maintaining review and approval workflows using streaming platforms and local playback systems.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Supporting VFX review and colour grading signal chains (SDI/HDMI routing, format conversion, calibrated monitoring)
- Assisting with secure remote editorial workflows where required
- Ensuring ongoing compliance with content security standards
What You'll Bring
Technical Experience
- Proven experience in IT support, ideally within film, television, media or live event production
- Strong working knowledge of macOS and Windows environments, including deployment, imaging, and troubleshooting
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, Wi-Fi deployment, VPNs, firewalls, and basic diagnostics
- Familiarity with production-specific tools such as Qtake, Moxion, Jump Desktop, PIX, and Shotgrid
- Experience with remote viewing and streaming platforms (e.g. ClearView Flex/Pivot, Evercast, Cinesync, Sohonet) preferred
- Understanding of SDI/HDMI signal chains and calibrated monitoring environments
- Experience supporting Avid Media Composer workflows and editorial infrastructure is highly desirable
Professional Skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Strong documentation habits and attention to detail
- Comfortable working independently while keeping stakeholders informed
- Able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical crew
- Confident translating production needs into technical requirements for engineering teams
- Experience supporting multi-site or international productions and distributed teams
- Comfortable working across production offices, soundstages, and outdoor locations
Additional Information
- Roles may involve irregular hours, including weekends
- Travel may be required domestically and internationally
- Manual handling of equipment up to 15kg may be required
- A valid driving license and access to a vehicle are essential
