Security Operations Manager

East Coast Security Operations plays a critical role in safeguarding cast members, guests, and company assets across The Walt Disney Company’s non–theme park locations throughout the Eastern Region of the United States and Canada. Our mission is grounded in vigilance, partnership, and service excellence—ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment wherever our teams operate.

This role is part of The Walt Disney Company’s Global Security Operations organization and reports to the Senior Manager, Security Operations – East Coast. Based at our 7 Hudson Square (7HS) offices, this position leads a highly trained, collaborative team dedicated to delivering comprehensive, 24/7 security coverage for corporate workplaces and off‑property events.

In this role, you will have a direct and visible impact—overseeing the day‑to‑day execution of security and content protection initiatives while partnering closely with internal stakeholders and external agencies. You will help set the standard for operational excellence, ensuring security strategies are executed with consistency, professionalism, and care for the people and places that make Disney unique.

A Day in the Life of a Security Manager

Security Operations & Incident Management

  • Monitor, manage, investigate, and resolve security incidents using D3, Dispatch, and related systems in accordance with established protocols.
  • Ensure timely case closure with accurate, complete documentation while maintaining confidentiality and proper chain‑of‑custody procedures.
  • Retrieve, archive, and manage video surveillance footage using Genetec to support investigations.
  • Partner with Legal, Human Resources, Employee Relations, and local law enforcement on incident response and investigations as required.

Systems, Facilities & Asset Protection

  • Monitor the functionality and performance of all security systems and software; coordinate promptly with technical support to resolve outages or issues.
  • Conduct regular operational checks of radios, CCTV, access control systems, alarms, and emergency equipment.
  • Ensure all designated entry points, doors, and facilities are secured by established deadlines, including end‑of‑tour lock‑up procedures.
  • Perform evening rounds to verify critical areas are secure and alarm systems are properly activated.

Threat Assessment & Risk Mitigation

  • Conduct daily threat assessments for personnel, facilities, and assets; communicate risks and mitigation strategies through roll calls and direct interactions.
  • Continuously evaluate facilities and operations to identify vulnerabilities (“soft targets”) and implement appropriate hardening measures.
  • Assess and implement audience screening and entry/exit flow strategies for live shows, productions, and special events.

Executive, Dignitary & Special Event Security

  • Provide security support for senior Disney executives and high‑profile individuals.
  • Liaise with private security teams accompanying celebrities, athletes, politicians, and special dignitaries.
  • Participate in pre‑production and event planning meetings, providing security risk assessments and operational recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with approved security plans, including coordination with K9 units, NYPD Paid Detail, and external security vendors on‑site and off‑site.

Production & Studio Security Support

  • Provide security coverage and operational coordination for productions including WABC Local News, World News Tonight, and ABC News Live.
  • Support production teams with crowd control, talent movement, and secure access to studio and controlled spaces.
  • Monitor production‑related activity to mitigate risk and maintain a safe working environment.

Visitor Management & Access Control

  • Review and process visitor requests through the Visitor Management System (VMS).
  • Approve or deny flagged visitors in alignment with security, compliance, and risk protocols.
  • Communicate access restrictions, VIP movements, and security updates to front‑of‑house teams.

Leadership, Team Management & Communication

  • Lead daily roll calls, communicate operational updates, assign responsibilities, and provide real‑time direction.
  • Foster a cohesive, high‑performing team culture grounded in professionalism, accountability, and service excellence.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and leadership to security team members.

Administrative, Compliance & Workforce Management

  • Prepare shift activity reports and end‑of‑tour summaries.
  • Maintain accurate records related to staffing, training, and incidents.
  • Oversee officer scheduling to ensure adequate coverage across all shifts and seamless handoffs between tours.
  • Manage payroll accuracy and adjustments in SAP.
  • Ensure all security personnel maintain valid New York State licenses and required certifications.
  • Monitor and enforce completion of required compliance training through D Learn.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to policy, process, and procedural improvements.

Here are the skills you will need to have to be successful in this role…
•    7+ years of private sector security and / or US military security experience

  • 2 plus years Leadership skills relevant to corporate security teams and their development through training and mentorship
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel and security software platforms
  • Strong organization, communication and leadership skills

Education is important to us, here is what we are looking for:
•    High school diploma

It would be a plus if you had these skills…

  • Experience with the management of security for television production, events is a plus.
  • Exposure and coordination for third party vendor security elements
  • Investigative and/or intelligence experience related to risk mitigation
  • Undergraduate degree

The hiring range for this position in New York is $91,200.00 to $122,300.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
