Job Summary:

About the Role:
Star Sports is the leading sports broadcaster in India. It offers a wide variety of sports content, broadcasting all major sports events such as IPL, ICC, Premier League, Pro Kabaddi, Wimbledon etc. Star Sports has redefined sports broadcasting in India with extensive cricket coverage, including domestic and international matches. It also offers several regional channels in different languages to cater to the diverse linguistic audience in India. We serve high quality content to millions of customers with world class technology and production. We are now seeking an individual to join our dynamic marketing team. This position is responsible for handling strategy & marketing plans for sports & grassroots initiatives like Khelo India Youth Games.

Context:
If you are passionate about sports and want to create a direct impact on viewership of Live sports as well as surround programming, this role is for you. Star Sports is inviting applications for a role in the Content Strategy and Insights team. The role requires the person to understand working on BARC data and the ability to distil relevant insights from data. The role also requires the person to have an understanding and awareness of what is happening across the World of sports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysing channel and program specific data to help create better content basis viewership trends, markets, target groups and competition performance.
  • Regular reports to be made by studying marquee and emerging properties to provide business with actionable inputs.
  • Understand changing market trends of TV consumption and assist in special strategic projects through data analysis and put forth key pointers to generate/validate ideas.
  • Study industry trends, competitor schedules and develop strategies to maximize audience viewership and retention.
  • Collaborate with content teams, acquisitions, and operations to align scheduling with business objectives.

Performance Measures:

  • Business Impact: Providing strategic inputs that enable growth in viewership of live sports and surround programming.
  • Regular reports on performance of key sports properties and impact of key initiatives recommended.
  • Identifying strategic levers for growth of viewership and implement it in scheduling strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualification: Post Graduation from any institute.
  • At least 5 years of post-graduation experience.
  • Understanding of media industry and knowledge of viewership metrics and working on YUMI (BARC) software.
  • Consumer data interpretation skills: Ability to study large sets of data on Excel.
  • Comfortable with working in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the current sports environment in India and Worldwide.

Personal Attributes:

  • Understanding of viewership metrics, knowledge of BARC.
  • Prior experience in sports is an added experience, but not a must.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to use data to passion for sports to arrive at insights for business.
  • Forward Thinking: Ability to understand what is happening in TV universe (competition) to anticipate solutions for business.
  • Good analytical skills
  • Ability to understand the role of different functions in the organization.
