Senior Specialist – Business-to-Business Communications

The Senior Specialist, Communications is part of the team that helps drive the business-to-business communication strategy and execution for Disney Consumer Products (DCP) business. A division of Disney Experiences, DCP brings beloved brands and franchises into the daily lives of families and fans through products – from toys to t-shirts, apps, books, console games and more – and experiences that can be found around the world, including on the shopDisney e-commerce platform and at Disney Parks, as well as local and international retailers. The business is home to a world-class team of product, licensing and retail experts, artists and storytellers, and technologists who inspire imaginations around the world.

Senior Specialist, Communications (DCP) reports to the Senior Manager, Communications for business-to-business and public affairs for DCP and supports communication initiatives tied to sustainability, business communication and industry events, as well as licensing and retail partner communications. The Senior Specialist, Communications (DCP) manages all content updates tied to DisneyLicensing.com throughout the year and leading up to key events. In this role, the Senior Specialist, Communications will drive the development of the DCP Communications calendar and weekly communication brief for leadership. The position also supports the development of trade media messaging, presentations, scripts and invitations. A strategic mindset, collaboration with stakeholders domestically and internationally, strong writing abilities and excellent project management skills are essential for this position.

Every day as the Senior Specialist, Communications is different. On any given day you may:

  • Serve as project manager to support key DCP initiatives, acting as a liaison between strategic partners (Public Affairs, Public Relations, Corporate teams, etc.) and ensuring projects are moving forward.
  • Drive the creation of website copy and assist with crafting communications plans and copyediting for various launches tied to sustainability and licensing operations.
  • Manage all communication needs tied to DCP presence at industry events to drive key business priorities, including project timelines, scripts, key messaging, invitations, post-event surveys, executive briefs and beyond.
  • Maintain an editorial calendar, craft key messages to business partners throughout the year and manage content updates to DisneyLicensing.com to ensure partners understand business priorities.
  • Support all business communication efforts tied to competitive insight analysis.
  • Manage a departmental calendar and project archive and serve as the team resource for compiling fact sheets and talking points related to corporate presentations.
  • Collaborate with the executive communications team to identify relevant executive speaking opportunities at key industry events and conferences.
  • Collaborate with DCP licensees and retailers to review and approve communication materials in advance of product launches (i.e., press releases, FAQs, website copy, etc).
  • Identify opportunities and assist with industry award submissions and key industry lists, as needed.
  • Assist with drafting pitches for trade publications and developing an editorial calendar linked to key business priorities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in communications, preferably corporate communications
  • Excellent writing skills, knowledge of AP style guide
  • Experience using SharePoint or other content management system, Smartsheet, WordPress, Keynote, Microsoft Office suite, etc.
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Strategic thinking mindset
  • Experience conducting research and executing communications with purpose
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, creative, flexible and a multi-tasker
  • Curiosity about licensing, retail, gaming and entertainment industries
