Sr Manager, GSCC Strategic Operations
Job Summary:
The Senior Manager, GSCC Strategic Operations is a leadership role focused on developing Specialist talent, setting strategic direction, and driving operational excellence across the Global Security Control Center's (GSCC) 24/7 watch operations, training programs, and quality assurance functions. Reporting to the Director, GSCC, this role directly leads a team of specialists responsible for global monitoring, open-source intelligence, social media research, incident support, and security communications for The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) worldwide.
The Senior Manager coaches and develops team members, fosters an inclusive culture, and ensures talent strategies align with TWDC values. This is a hands-on leadership position where developing talent and maintaining operational readiness are equally critical.
Beyond team leadership, the Sr. Manager provides strategic oversight for 24/7 watch operations ensuring timely, accurate, and actionable intelligence reaches Global Security partners and enterprise leaders. The Senior Manager also owns the Strategic Training Program, Quality Assurance and audit functions, and policy development that define control center standards across the enterprise.
This position carries global impact—aligning watch operations, specialist capabilities, training excellence, and operational standards that protect TWDC employees, guests, and assets worldwide. The Senior Manager partners closely with the GSCC Director, an additional Senior Manager, GSCC Strategic Operations; and cross-functional teams across Global Security, including Global Intelligence & Analysis, Investigations, Executive Protection, Production Security, Emergency Preparedness & Response, and segment Control Centers—to ensure readiness, response, and confidence across all served populations.
The GSCC operates 24/7/365, supporting emergency and non-emergency events, monitoring global affairs, managing incoming calls, dispatching resources, and providing event-driven global notifications. In emergencies, the GSCC coordinates enterprise assistance, delivers technical and advisory support for essential services, issues risk warnings, disseminates employee information, and serves as the central communication hub for Global Security.
In addition, the Senior Manager may act as the Director, GSCC in the Director's absence.
As a Senior Manager you will…
People Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of 10 specialists; set clear expectations, coach performance, and ensure accountability.
- Build succession readiness across the team and career progression plans to maintain leadership continuity
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture aligned with TWDC values.
- Partner with GHRO on talent planning, workforce design, and performance management.
- Promote collaboration and mentoring within the team and across global security partners to advance enterprise strategies.
Strategic Oversight of Watch Operations
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for 24/7 watch, ensure operational excellence, staffing readiness, and service quality
- Drive initiatives to optimize scheduling and strengthen infrastructure for global monitoring and incident response.
- Ensure timely, accurate security communications and actionable reporting for enterprise stakeholders.
- Offer technical guidance on infrastructure improvements and high-priority incidents to safeguard employees and executives.
- Navigate emerging events, improve operational infrastructure, and strengthen the organization's ability to counter threats optimally.
Policy & Procedure Development
- Spearhead the creation and revision of policies and procedures that define control center operations; establish control center standards within the company ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Ensure all SOPs are documented, and after-action processes current; integrate lessons learned into operations.
- Partner with Legal and Global Security leadership to align policies with enterprise requirements and best practices.
Training & Quality Assurance
- Lead the Strategic Training Program; ensure team readiness through updated SOPs, manuals, and tailored learning solutions.
- Maintain quality assurance standards; monitor performance metrics, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the Training Specialist to design and assess programs that sustain operational excellence.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Serve as GSCC liaison to Global Security teams and segment Control Centers; ensure integrated operations and shared situational awareness.
- Partner with GSCC leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational priorities.
- Represent GSCC in governance forums, councils, and with external partners to advance enterprise security strategies.
Operational Support & On-Call
- Provide on-call leadership coverage; lead critical incidents and high-tempo events with calm, decisive action.
- Support incident workflows, notifications, and crisis communications; ensure timely escalation and stakeholder confidence.
- Contribute to drills, tabletop exercises, and after-action reviews; embed improvements into procedures and training.
- Act as GSCC Director in their absence, assuming full operational authority.
You need to have these skills to be successful…
- +10 or more years of progressive experience in security, crisis management, or operations center leadership, including at least 5 years with experience leading and developing teams through change.
- Experience leading both 24/7 watch operations and training/quality assurance functions within a Fortune 500 global security organization; relevant experience within government agencies, military, or public sector security organizations is equally credible.
- Demonstrated success overseeing multidisciplinary teams across global monitoring, open-source intelligence, social media research, or related functions.
- Strong strategic planning and program oversight skills with the ability to align operational execution to enterprise priorities.
- Working knowledge of Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) operational frameworks and modern security platforms.
- Proven ability to build and maintain cross-functional partnerships with senior leaders, segment partners, and enterprise collaborators.
- Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate clearly to executives, frontline partners, and cross-functional teams.
- Executive-level briefing skills with experience representing security functions to senior leadership.
- Strong capability to analyze sophisticated security data and feedback from operations to identify trends, anticipate potential issues, and devise effective strategies.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, remove barriers for direct reports, and drive accountability for results.
- Experience in handling crisis situations; ability to remain calm, make crucial decisions, and lead teams effectively under stress.
- Given The Walt Disney Company's global operations, an appreciation for cultural differences and ability to lead security programs with a global perspective.
- Robust understanding of technologies and platforms relevant to security operations, paired with proficiency in MS Office applications and emerging platforms.
It would be a plus if you had these skills…
- Subject matter familiarity with OSINT/SMR platforms, global monitoring tools, mass notification systems, or security communications platforms.
- Experience developing and delivering training programs, SOPs, and quality assurance audits in a security or operations center environment.
- Budget management experience, including workforce planning, vendor contracts, and capital investments.
- Professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, CISSP, PMP, or equivalent credentials.

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $153,200 to $205,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
