Job Summary:

The Associate Director, Tax Data Management, and Innovation (TDMI) will play a crucial role in reviewing and enhancing the company's tax data, technology infrastructure, and operations. This role will oversee the tax-related master data for the various legal entity management systems utilized by global tax (Triton, Common Entities, Legal Entity Manager, International Tax Calculator, etc.). This role will be responsible for creating and providing up-to-date legal entity organizational charts globally as needed for audits, etc., and ensuring all related controls are executed.

This role will also oversee the recently implemented stock basis tool and the annual update process. They will need to leverage subject matter expertise in Tax transaction support, US federal, and US international teams. These computations will support transactions and reorganizations.

This role will also be responsible for managing the tax aspects on intercompany reporting as needed for tax reporting and will support the tax technology aspects (data load and transformation) of Country-by-Country and Pillar Two reporting.

They oversee implementations of various tax-related software applications, including ONESOURCE Dataflow, WorkFront, Alteryx Workflows, Power Bi Dashboards, Power Apps, and SharePoint.

The Associate Director will lead or assist with various automation efforts and global tax transformation projects within TDMI and Corporate Tax. They will be the India site leader for Disney’s Tax Operations group and will directly and indirectly manage employees and contractors.

The Associate Director will work closely with other tax groups and other departments within the company and with co-sourcing partners, including finance and IT, to ensure that TDMI is tightly integrated with finance optimization initiatives.

Responsibilities of & Requirements for the Role:

  • Manage projects and innovation strategies.
  • Oversee the annual stock basis computations
  • Manage tax related legal entity master data and system updates across all tax systems.
  • Lead and mentor staff, and ensure that they are meeting their targets and providing timely and high-quality work.
  • Manage the technology support ticket queue in WorkFront related to areas of responsibility.
  • Develop additional automation within TDMI and Corporate Tax to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
  • Ensure the TDMI team is aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Supports tax aspects of major business initiatives, including requirement planning, testing, communication & training.
  • Provides data for audit support across Tax and supports CbC & Pillar Two reporting.
  • Anticipate internal and external environment changes and assess whether the technology solutions and teams are prepared to address future needs.
  • Further, develop and grow the project management, process improvement, and technology skills of the wider tax team to enable the Tax Function of the Future via ongoing communication, training, skill development support, and tool access and training.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, data analytics, or a related field
  • 10-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with data tools that enable the transformation and analysis of large data volumes is also necessary.
  • Preferred candidates have an advanced degree or on a path toward licensing as a Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (CMI) OR Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or international equivalent.
  • Preferred candidates also have experience working with SAP, Vertex O Series, Vertex Returns, OneSource, Alteryx, and Python experience is strongly encouraged.
