The Product & Data Engineering team is responsible for end-to-end development for Disney’s world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products & experiences across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. The team drives innovation at scale for millions of consumers around the world across Apple, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and the web, with our platforms powering core experiences like personalization, search, messaging and data.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lead Software Engineer to join our dynamic team, focusing on leading and overseeing the development of our data infrastructure. You will be responsible for architecting and implementing software solutions to automate, enhance, and support our data platform, primarily leveraging Snowflake and cloud technologies. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your expertise in software engineering, cloud data platforms, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation, while guiding the creation of a robust, scalable, and secure data ecosystem. You’ll get to understand the challenges of how data is being used at Disney’s world-class streaming services while pushing the boundaries of what is possible using the latest technologies available in AWS, Databricks, and beyond.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

● Oversee the development and maintenance of software solutions using Python to automate and enhance the management of the Snowflake data platform, including user access, permissions, and resource utilization.

● Lead the design and improvement of integrations between Snowflake and other systems using Python, APIs, and Snowflake connectors, ensuring robustness and maintainability

● Drive the implementation and management of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform, focusing on automating the deployment and scaling of data infrastructure components

● Collaborate with the team to design and implement data models, applying advanced software engineering principles to ensure database schema design is scalable and maintainable

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training: Minimum and Preferred. Inclusive of Licenses/Certs (include functional experience as well as behavioral attributes and/or leadership capabilities)

Required Qualifications & Skills:

● In-depth understanding of database technology, including relational databases and SQL

● Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, especially Terraform, CICD, or automation tools

● Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly

Preferred Qualifications:

● Comprehensive understanding of data warehousing concepts and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

● Expertise in designing complex systems and making key architectural decisions with reasonable trade-offs

● Snowflake expert, including architecture, management, and key features

● Master’s Degree in Computer Science Education

● 5+ years of relevant professional experience and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field OR 3+ years of relevant professional experiences and a Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
