Job Summary:

Disney’s Direct to Consumer (DTC) team oversees the Disney+ and Hulu streaming businesses within Disney Entertainment, helping to bring The Walt Disney Company’s best-in-class storytelling to fans and families around the world. 

The DTC Strategy team leads the development of critical initiatives that drive growth and innovation for our DTC businesses globally.  Key responsibilities include market and competitive intelligence and analysis, business plan creation for new business initiatives, and communication of our business strategies to executive leadership, Disney’s Board of Directors, and the broader investor community. 

As the Vice President, DTC Strategy, you will be responsible for:

  • Working with senior executives to facilitate the strategic development process
  • Identifying and assessing critical consumer, entertainment, and technology trends that impact our businesses worldwide
  • Defining and analyzing critical new growth opportunities for Disney's streaming platforms
  • Creating actionable business plans for new ventures
  • Assessing partnership and M&A opportunities to drive growth and innovation.
  • Driving and facilitating collaboration with key stakeholders across cross-functional teams
  • Developing executive-level presentations to communicate strategic recommendations to the senior team
  • Support senior leadership communications to internal and external constituents (e.g., executive presentations, Board presentations, Earnings call prep)
  • Providing intellectual leadership to high performing teams, as well as continuous coaching and feedback to motivate individuals to reach their highest potential

  • Drive strategic planning and assess new business opportunities
  • Assess partnership and M&A opportunities
  • Support senior leadership communications to internal and external constituents
  • Provide coaching / feedback to junior team

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

We are looking for a dynamic, self-driven, solutions-oriented problem solver who enjoys fast-paced environments, has a high degree of intellectual curiosity, embraces ambiguity, and is passionate about contributing to The Walt Disney Company’s DTC experience.

Required qualifications:

  • Experience and successful track record working in a corporate strategy or business unit strategy group or a leading strategy consulting firm, preferably within the media/entertainment or Internet/digital technology space
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with solid business and financial acumen
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and experience delivering presentations to senior management, with solid ability to connect recommendations and analyses to the “bigger picture”
  • Excellent project management skills, with ability to flexibly adapt approach to shifting priorities across multiple assignments
  • Familiarity with working in or with large organizations
  • Excellent team player with solid interpersonal skills
  • Experience in doing business in foreign markets
  • Personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential information
  • Available for limited travel both domestically and internationally

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA from a Top 5 graduate business school
  • Minimum 10 years of post-MBA work experience
  • Proven ability to effectively lead teams and partners through change
  • Demonstrated success in understanding and presenting complex business issues and identifying creative solutions
  • Collegial orientation, ability to positively confront issues and resolve conflict with sound judgment
  • Ability to work effectively within an evolving organization and influence others without direct authority for them
  • Demonstrated diplomatic courage and confidence with executive interactions
  • Creativity, adaptability, tenacity, a sense of urgency and a hands-on orientation
  • Demonstrate care and compassion, promoting an environment of respect, well-being, and flexibility.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $236,000 to $316,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
