Job Summary:

Disney’s Direct to Consumer team oversees the Hulu and Disney+ streaming businesses within Disney Entertainment helping to bring The Walt Disney Company’s best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere. 

The VP, Creator Programming for Direct to Consumer will lead the strategy and execution of how Disney curates creator content across its DTC streaming platforms. This executive will define how creator content enhances engagement and fandom within the streaming ecosystem and operationalize the processes by which that content is brought to Disney’s streaming services while ensuring all content upholds Disney’s brand values, safety standards, and global regulatory requirements. This role reports to the SVP of Programming and will be responsible for leading and supporting an integrated, strategic framework that drives meaningful business outcomes through curated community-powered content. 

 Responsibilities: 

 DTC Creator Content Strategy & Vision 

Lead a team in defining the content vision and multi-year roadmap for creator content on Disney’s streaming platforms. 

● Identify how creator content supports core DTC objectives, including: o Engagement and retention 

o Frequency and time spent 

o Franchise fandom and community participation 

Establish editorial and curation principles aligned with brand, audience segments, and global markets. 

Content Curation & Platform Integration 

Oversee end-to-end curation workflows for creator content, including sourcing, evaluation, publishing, and performance evaluation. 

Partner with Product and UX teams to develop platform capabilities and experiences, representing the needs of subscribers, creators, and the business.. 

Collaborate with Marketing, Content Programming, Publicity, and Originals teams to align creator content with release windows, tentpole moments, and franchise launches. 

Ensure curated content standards adhere to quality, accessibility, and brand safety guidelines. 

Subscriber Engagement 

Use audience insights, behavioral data, and experimentation to optimize business impact. 

Design scalable fan participation models (e.g., submissions, challenges, creator spotlights) that deepen emotional connection to Disney franchises. 

Partner closely with Marketing teams to ensure consistency across consumer touchpoints. 

Governance, Trust & Safety 

Partner with Legal, Brand, and Policy teams to define global guidelines for creator content usage on streaming platforms. 

Ensure compliance with content rights, child safety regulations, regional laws, and platform standards. 

Lead proactive risk management related to creator conduct, and reputational integrity. 

Creator & Ecosystem 

● Build strategic relationships with creators and relevant partners. 

Understand creator onboarding frameworks, rights management, and monetization models where applicable. 

Represent the interests of the creator community to ensure equitable business practices and a sustainable business model. 

Measurement, Insights, and Innovation 

Define KPIs to assess the business impact of creator content 

Regularly communicate performance insights and recommendations to senior leadership. 

Leadership & Team Development 

Build and lead a high-performing global team spanning curation, editorial strategy, and operations. 

● Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and inclusion. 

Inspire individual and business success by clearly communicating the “why” behind business decisions and connecting teams to the big picture. 

Define strategies, expectations, and priorities to ensure that the team’s actions align with the company’s success.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training: 

12+ years of experience in digital media, streaming, content strategy, or platform operations. 

Demonstrated leadership in creator content, creator ecosystems, community-driven content, or platform curation. 

Strong understanding of streaming platform economics, personalization, and audience lifecycle management. 

● Familiarity with AI-driven tools. 

Success collaborating in a highly matrixed environment and connecting the dots across multiple stakeholders. 

● Expertise in content rights, licensing, and global compliance. 

Skilled in flexible, strategic thinking and envisioning future possibilities. 

Strong business insight with the ability to apply market knowledge to advance goals. 

Preferred Education, Experience/Skills/Training: 

Experience at a major streaming platform, media-tech company, or large-scale digital platform. 

● Bachelor's degree required

● Global experience operating programs across multiple regions. 

● Passion for Disney franchises and fan communities. 

Success Attributes 

● Strong editorial judgment with data-driven decision-making. 

● Comfortable operating in ambiguity and scaling new content models. 

● Trusted cross-functional partner and executive communicator. 

● Experience in leading large functions and senior managers.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $214,600 to $287,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
