Join Disney Theatrical Group (DTG) as a Creative Venue Technician Apprentice and step behind the scenes of live theatre. As part of this two-year apprenticeship, you’ll learn how large-scale productions are brought to life, working alongside experienced technical professionals on Disney’s iconic shows.   

You don’t need previous experience. This apprenticeship is designed for people who are curious, practical and ready to build a long-term backstage career in theatre. If you are keen to develop new skills across and work across multiple disciplines, this apprenticeship is ideal for you.  

Who can apply? 

You can apply if you:  

  • Will be 18 or over by the start of the apprenticeship (for Health & Safety reasons) 

  • Have the right to work in the UK 

  • Do not already hold an equivalent qualification or degree in a closely related subject 

  • Have passed your GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4 or above) 

Where you’ll work  

You’ll be based within Disney Theatrical Group’s West End productions in London. Working hours will vary depending on the department and production, and evening and weekend work will be required. 

About the Apprenticeship 

Disney Theatrical Group (DTG) is a leading innovator in entertainment, dedicated to creating exceptional live experiences for audiences.  

You’ll be supported by Access Creative College as you work towards the Level 3 Creative Venue Technician apprenticeship standard.  

This apprenticeship will help you build the practical skills and confidence to work backstage on a major West End production. You will gain experience in many backstage departments including Stage, Costume, Lighting, Automation, Sound, and Puppets. You will have the opportunity to choose one department in which to spend more time in year two of the apprenticeship. You will learn about producing and maintaining live theatre from an experienced production company and be part of our crew.

The Selection Process & Key Dates  

  • Application deadline: Midnight on Sunday 9th August 2026 

  • Online skills-based assessment: All eligible candidates who have submitted a CV and Cover Letter will be invited to complete a skills-based online assessment. You’ll have one week to complete this. 

  • Virtual Information Session (26th August): If shortlisted, you will be invited to a virtual Meet & Greet with the Disney Theatrical Group Team to learn more about the Apprenticeship opportunity. 

  • Backstage Theatre Tour (3rd or 4th September): Following the Information session, you will have the opportunity to be toured around the Lyceum Theatre in London to learn more about the technical operations and departments that bring the Lion King stage production to life.  

  • Interview: You will be invited for a virtual interview with our Disney Theatrical Group Team Members.  

  • Offer and Onboarding: We have two intake dates a two-year Fixed Term Contract: November 2026 and March 2027.
