About the Role & Team

We are a dynamic fast-paced team supporting Disney Experiences (DX)! We are hiring for a Sr. Manager, Labor Relations (Arbitration & Charges) based out of Lake Buena Vista, FL.  This position serves as the primary Company advocate in arbitrations and unfair labor practice charges filed with the NLRB.   This position also assists with leading a team of Labor Relation professionals in the day-to-day administration and interpretation of site-specific collective bargaining agreements through consultations, grievances and resolution of labor-management issues.  The role requires prior first-chair experience representing and advocating on behalf of management in arbitrations or similar hearings, mediations, and before administrative agencies.  

What You Will Do

• Manage case load for arbitrations across the WDW & DLR labor relations team, including striking panels, maintaining case dockets, and providing regular reporting on pending matters.
• Track arbitration outcomes and maintain a database of arbitrator decisions; manage timelines to ensure efficient disposition of pending arbitration matters.
• Conduct research, fact-finding, and risk/benefit analysis to develop and lead defensive strategy for bi-coastal arbitrations.
• Serve as first-chair/primary Company advocate in WDW arbitration matters, working with external counsel as appropriate on high-impact matters across both coasts.
• Review, interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements.
• Oversee the direction of team members responsible for assessing and responding to NLRB matters, using strong written & verbal communication, strategic analysis, and advocacy skills.
• Provide management and direction to team members, including coaching and training, setting priorities and assigning work, implementing discipline, and evaluating progress towards goals.
• Responsible for timely and accurate archiving of work via a case management system.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of leadership experience in Labor Relations, Human Resources, Legal, or equivalent (e.g. client advocacy at hearings, mediations, negotiations, and administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements)
• First-chair experience representing clients in arbitrations, negotiations, mediations, and/or agency matters
• Strong understanding of all aspects of state and federal labor and employment laws including, but not limited to NLRA, Title VII, EEO, ADA, and FMLA
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop and articulate persuasive position statements and briefs
• Ability to communicate with different audiences and represent the Company in a professional manner
• Ability to multi-task and balance numerous priorities in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive matters appropriately.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products and willingness to learn new systems

 

Education

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Employee Relations, Industrial Labor Relations, Business Administration, Human Resources, or equivalent field.
• JD or equivalent legal training strongly preferred.

The hiring range for this position in Lake Buena Vista, FL is $145,900.00 to $195,600.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
