Product Design - Licensed Toys Intern, Spring 2027

In this role you will work with the Princess, Frozen, and Walt Disney Animation Studios (WDAS) toy design team to assist on specific licensed toy projects. Exciting daily tasks include identifying toy and fashion trends, brainstorming new concepts, developing inspiration boards, and sketching toy ideas. You will work with the design team to give guidance on product design to Disney licensees and work on 3 specific projects over the course of the internship, as well as being exposed to the daily responsibilities of the Disney Consumer Products Design team.
This is a rare opportunity to learn about the product development process from concept through production, working with internal staff and licensees. You will be responsible for working with the Design Manager and design teams to extend existing business and generate concepts for new business.
This internship is a full-time, in-person, six-month commitment in the Glendale, California area from January 11th, 2027 through June 4th 2027.
What You Will Do:
- Work with the product design Manager and design team on licensed Disney Consumer Products toy lines
- Participate in product approvals, including creative reviews, feedback sessions, and key meetings with licensees
- Make artistic contributions to new initiatives by sketching concepts, crafting trend boards, and sharing ideas
- Monitor competitors, product innovation, and market dynamics
- Research Initial seasonal trends by category
- Coordinate product submissions for creative reviews and approvals with the design team
- Coordinate and maintain product and market samples
- Recommend product ideas to build and strengthen businesses
- Present concepts and project deliverables to management and internal teams
- Participate in possible limited domestic travel for on-site product approval with licensees
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong sketching abilities
- Solid knowledge of toy categories, particularly dolls, playsets, and roleplay
- Demonstrated creativity, resourcefulness, and innovative thinking
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills and confidence in presenting/public speaking
- Proficiency in creating and editing videos to be used in internal presentations
- Skilled at PowerPoint deck creation and delivery
- Strength in virtual platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom
- Genuine passion for drawing and the ability to create overlays
- Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience creating POV/mood boards
- Passion for keeping current with trends in toys and design
Education:
- Junior or Senior year preferred
- Pursuing a degree in Toy Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Illustration, or a related design field

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all the requirements below
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, pursuing a bachelor's degree, taking at least one class at the time of application, OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney Internship or Disney College Program.
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information:
- The dates of this internship are January 11th, 2027 through June 4th, 2027
- Fully available from Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Pacific Time Zone for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week
- Be aligned with The Disney Look appearance guidelines
- Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Glendale, California, area
- Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

The pay rate for this role in Glendale, CA is $23.00 per hour.
