Senior Safety Professional, Hotel Occupational Safety
Job Summary:
Senior Safety Professional – Hotel Occupational Safety
As a Senior Safety Professional specializing in Hotel Occupational Safety, you will serve as the subject matter expert for Food & Beverage (F&B) safety across the entire Disney Cruise Line fleet. In this role, you will lead the identification, assessment, and resolution of safety-related matters spanning all F&B operations—including Dining, Galleys, and associated areas.
You will drive continuous improvement by advising on operational best practices, ergonomic safety design, and incident reduction strategies. A key element of this role involves aligning performance standards across F&B operations, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and implementing a tiered audit framework to strengthen safety compliance and culture fleet-wide.
This on-site based position reports directly to the Manager, Occupational Safety – Hotel.
Responsibilities: Serve as the primary subject matter expert for Food & Beverage occupational safety, bringing in-depth knowledge of Hotel Operations and a specialized focus on F&B compliance and operational excellence.
- Partner with F&B leadership to develop, implement, and sustain safety programs—conducting job task analyses, reviewing injury and illness trends, evaluating performance metrics, and identifying targeted improvement opportunities.
- Monitor emerging health and safety regulations, interpreting and updating policies and procedures for all F&B operations with a Safety-First approach to kitchen design, equipment maintenance, and food service.
- Conduct regular quality assurance audits across the fleet, including Tier II audits where applicable, and champion adoption of Tier I audits within all F&B sub-departments.
- Apply critical thinking and independent judgment during audits, inspections, and ship visits to verify compliance with company standards, maritime regulations, and applicable food safety laws.
- Partner with F&B to support USPH compliance and drive F&B audit performance to meet or exceed established benchmarks. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, harmonizing maritime equivalencies with Disney's F&B safety protocols.
- Lead or participate in F&B-related incident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis, timely corrective actions, and effective communication of lessons learned. Monitor F&B incident data across all DCL partners to build incident awareness, share best practices, and prevent recurrence.
- Lead performance improvement initiatives by benchmarking against industry regulations, codes, and best practices to maintain world-class safety and hygiene standards.
- Review and approve SMS changes, Corrective Action Reports, and audit findings specific to F&B operations. Ensure SMS updates are implemented consistently and accurately across the fleet.
- Actively participate in hazard analysis meetings, providing expert guidance on F&B risk identification, mitigation strategies, and training and documentation requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across a matrix organization, engaging all levels of leadership and frontline Cast Members & Crew to foster a proactive safety culture.
- Provide coaching and guidance fleet-wide to ensure proper implementation of F&B safety procedures and compliance with domestic and international regulations.
- Support broader Hotel safety initiatives while maintaining a specialized focus on F&B operations, while assisting with hotel projects as needed, including those involving other lines of business.
- Serve as backup support to the Occupational Safety Hotel Manager.
