Graphic Designer
Job Summary:
The DLR Park Operations Graphic Designer role manages and coordinates graphic design projects from concept through completion, using their artistic abilities to create design elements such as images, colors, fonts, logos and shapes in computer software programs like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to communicate visual messaging for local, park and resort wide activations and events. They collaborate with leaders and Company contacts to design and develop internal and external collateral following the appropriate brand guidelines, gaining proper approvals and responding with artistic solutions. They partner with project managers and work with various internal and external vendors to oversee the production and installation of print materials, consistently meeting timeline requirements.
This full time, onsite role reports to the leader of the DLR Operations Core Support Team.
You Will:
· PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT: Work with each client to develop the requested collateral vision, scope and design aspects of each project and document the final agreement with all parties.
· TEAMWORK AND COLLABORATION: Use company catalogues and internal resources to confirm if there are existing graphic resources already available, reach out to contacts for working files and/or original artwork. Collaborate with other Graphic Designers to share best practices, technology evolution and internal wins.
· PROJECT COST/VENDOR PROCESS: Manage all project bid development alongside the supervision of your leader, to include final approval of costs by the client and contract agreement with vendors. Ensure internal purchasing processes are followed and the correct groups/vendors are paid on time.
· PROJECT SCHEDULE: Create a clear timeline for each project including key deliverables such as first/last client review, leader approval, legal approval, final delivery date, etc. to ensure clarity across the total portfolio. All project timelines will be kept updated via project management tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Tasks, etc.
· PARTNER COMMUNICATION: Communicate regularly with key stakeholders such as Legal partners, Branding, Studio partners (Pixar, Marvel, Walt Disney Studios, Archives, etc.), and others to receive approvals based on the collateral’s intended use.
· TECHNICAL COMPETENCY: Build, create and develop graphic designs, inclusive of the dimensional requirements to print, build or produce said design, using various platforms including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere) and InDesign), at an expert level.
· PRODUCTION PROCESS COMPETENCY: Work with vendors to ensure correct bleeds, fonts, dimensions, materials, quantity, installation, etc. is done according to agreement. If vendor does not, make delivery of final product to client.
You Have:
· A strong portfolio of work with an elevated design esthetic, including both digital and print media
. This must be included as a URL link on your resume; any other portfolio submissions will not be considered
· Expert technical skills in the Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop
· A strong awareness of Disney, The Disneyland Resort and Disney Cast Member history
· Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Smartsheet
· Experience in concept presentation and storytelling for executive-level audiences
· Demonstrated experience in curating brand authenticity throughout creative work
· Printing, mounting, cutting and engraving using a variety of machines and software
· Demonstrated strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail
· Flexibility and ability to manage multiple, often last-minute tasks and established project deadlines
· Guest service experience
· Ability to handle work and materials that are confidential in nature
· Strong partnering and networking skills
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bilingual Spanish/English
· Additional technical expertise in video design/editing or multimedia art is a plus
· Previous experience as a Disney Cast Member
Required Education:
· BA/BFA degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media or a similar relevant degree,
or at least 5 years of relevant work experience as an in-house, full time Graphic Designer
The hiring range for this position in California is $65,300.00-$87,500.00. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
