Principal Digital Product Manager 

This role is a senior individual contributor within the Walt Disney Attractions Japan (WDAJ) Technology & Digital team, serving as a strategic product management lead and trusted liaison to Oriental Land Company (OLC) across both Theme Park and Cruise businesses. 

 

Positioned at the intersection of product strategy, technology integration, and cross-organizational alignment, this role supports OLC in shaping high-quality digital and technology-enabled guest and cast experiences. It plays a critical role in bridging Disney Experiences’ global digital ecosystem with OLC’s locally owned products and operations, ensuring alignment with Disney standards while respecting OLC’s ownership model. 

 

This position does not hold final decision-making authority, product ownership, or delivery accountability. All such responsibilities remain with OLC’s business and technology leadership. 
Instead, the role focuses on enabling high-quality product decisions, clarity, and alignment, through structured product leadership, technical insight, and strategic advisory. 

 

Core Focus Areas 

  • Strategic Product Leadership & Advisory 
    Guide and influence product vision, roadmap development, prioritization, and trade-offs to support OLC decision-making. 

  • Global Product Integration & Alignment 
    Connect OLC efforts with Disney’s global platforms, standards, and best practices to drive consistency, reuse, and operational efficiency. 

  • Cross-Organizational Liaison 
    Act as a key interface between OLC teams and Disney Experiences stakeholders globally (US, Europe, Asia), ensuring alignment across product, engineering, data, design, and operations. 

  • Clarity & Decision Enablement 
    Structure complex business and technical topics into actionable insights, including dependencies, risks, and trade-offs for executive stakeholders. 

  • Experience Quality & Consistency 
    Advocate and influence adoption of Disney’s digital experience principles and product standards across guest-facing and cast-facing systems. 

  • Capability Building & Innovation 
    Promote adoption of emerging technologies (including AI) and modern product management practices to enhance OLC’s digital capabilities. 

 

Scope 

  • Supports both Theme Park and Cruise businesses (~40% / 60%) 

  • Operates across multi-site, cross-regional environments 

  • Requires occasional travel (1–2 times per year)

Key Responsibilities 

  • Serve as a product management liaison between OLC Technology, Digital, and Systems teams and Disney global teams 

  • Provide structured product leadership and advisory without assuming ownership of delivery or final decisions 

  • Support leadership in strategic presentations, workshops, and executive alignment sessions 

  • Partner with OLC stakeholders to support: 

Defining product vision, goals, and success metrics 

Structuring and refine roadmaps, sequencing, and priorities 

Translating business needs into clear product and system requirements 

Connecting with Disney global SMEs across domains 

  • Drive alignment with Disney by: 

Promoting product management standards, artifacts, and review practices 

Aligning to technical standards, platforms, and experience principles 

Identifying opportunities for reuse, integration, and consistency across regions 

  • Act as an integration point across initiatives, ensuring awareness of: 

Dependencies across systems and teams 

Risks, constraints, and trade-offs 

Alignment between business, engineering, and vendor teams 

  • Review and provide structured feedback on: 

Product strategy, scope, and requirements 

Feature definitions and experience flows 

Delivery plans and prioritization approach 

  • Support cross-functional collaboration across: 

Disney and OLC technology and digital stakeholders 

Engineering, infrastructure, and platform teams 

External partners and vendors 

  • Document and articulate: 

Disney’s product capabilities, workflows, and dependencies 

Disney’s technology and platform landscapes 

Integration opportunities across ecosystems 

  • Translate complex technical and product topics into clear, actionable communication for both technical and non-technical audiences 

  • Research and share insights on: 

Emerging technologies (AI, connected services, digital platforms) 

Industry trends in theme parks, cruise, and hospitality 

Global Disney product practices and innovations 

  • Support knowledge sharing through training, workshops, and cross-team communication mechanisms

Qualifications 

 

Required Qualifications  

  • 8+ years of experience in product management, product design, or digital/technology-driven services, including complex platforms or ecosystems 

  • Proven ability to define and influence product strategy, vision, and roadmaps in environments where ownership resides with OLC 

  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment without direct authority across cross-functional and cross-company teams 

  • Experience working closely with engineering, infrastructure, platform, and business teams to address complex technical and operational challenges 

  • Strong experience in distributed, cross-regional, and multi-stakeholder environments 

  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Japanese, with the ability to bridge technical and business discussions effectively 

  • Ability to manage ambiguity, competing priorities, and evolving requirements with structured thinking and clarity 

  • Strong analytical skills and structured problem-solving ability, using data and insights to support decision-making 

  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, including OLC leadership, partners, and vendors 

  • High level of professionalism, collaboration, and integrity, aligned with Disney values 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in global or multi-site digital product ecosystems, including integration across varied operating models and technology stacks 

  • Experience supporting product integration, standardization, or cross-platform alignment initiatives 

  • Industry experience in hospitality, travel, cruise, theme parks, or large-scale consumer digital platforms 

  • Familiarity with: 

Mobile and web applications 

Travel / eCommerce platforms 

Omnichannel guest experiences 

AI-enabled tools and personalization 

  • Experience working with platform and engineering teams on integrations, including APIs, shared services, and data flows 

  • Experience establishing or improving product management practices, processes, and artifacts 

  • Ability to document and communicate end-to-end product capabilities and system landscapes 

  • Understanding of infrastructure constraints, system dependencies, and delivery trade-offs 

  • Experience in strategy or technology consulting, with strong skills in: 

Structured problem solving 

Executive communication 

Stakeholder alignment 

  • Exposure to connected systems (IoT, onboard systems, location-based services) 

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus
