Disney Entertainment includes the company’s full portfolio of entertainment media and content businesses globally, including streaming. Walt Disney Studios encompasses a collection of respected film studios, including Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, Searchlight Pictures, and 20th Century Studios. Disney General Entertainment Content is a collection of renowned content brands at The Walt Disney Company creating original entertainment for the Company’s streaming platform, Disney+.
The Manager, Digital and Social Marketing for The Walt Disney Southeast Asia will be responsible for leading strategy and campaign planning on regional paid digital media and social channels. The core objective is to drive awareness, engagement, social buzz and achieve revenue goals for our movies releasing in cinemas by the Studios business.
This includes creative and social content calendar development, digital paid media planning (Programmatic, Video, Premium, Display, Connected TV, Social buys), social community management, campaign monitoring and reporting. This role requires a strong grasp of organic and paid content formats, latest regional trends and innovations on digital and social channels, as well as agency management.
Responsibilities:
- Drive overall regional digital and social strategy for paid media and content creative for movie titles, ensuring clear briefing and direction to agencies
- Deliver inspiration to creative teams and agencies in developing sustainable and engaging concepts to drive engagement and word of mouth
- Work with agencies to review campaign proposals, plan regional social media calendars (including caption write-ups and media boosting), manage social asset sourcing and rollouts, while managing approvals and alignments with internal stakeholders from global and local offices
- Drive ideation and scripting for publicity content featuring celebrity and production talents
- Lead regional paid digital media planning and implementation across digital and social buys, regularly checking campaign reports, analysing performance data to identify gaps and opportunities for optimizations that maximise campaign efficiency and efficacy
- Stay up to date with emerging formats and innovations on social and digital channels, sharing inspiration with the team on new initiatives that we can test and learn
- Oversee regular community engagement and campaign reporting of social media buzz of our movies, analysing sentiments and engagement metrics to inform content strategy and optimizations that can further extend reach and engagement
- Ensure optimized implementation and usage of Digital tools such as Sprinklr (social listening) and Datorama (media performance reporting)
- Coordination with administrative, creative, finance, legal services, and other shared services, in order to carry out campaigns
- Maintain a strong awareness on wider relevant and recent social trends, behaviours and topics on social media channels (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X) and online forums in the region, particularly among fans of our franchises (e.g. Marvel, Pixar), identifying strategic and tactical content opportunities that can resonate well with our audiences
- Participate in the organization of social contests and coordination with Influencers where required
- Contribute to social coverage of our marketing events where required
- Coordinate with Disney’s other teams for cross-business support
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 9 years experience in digital and social marketing in-house or in agencies, preferably with experience in the media entertainment industry
- Marketing, Communications, Media or Business BA /BS degree, or other relevant qualifications
- Fluent in written and spoken English, an excellent communicator with experience in copywriting
- Creative individual who loves entertainment content. Interest in movies, pop culture and Disney’s brands is a plus
- A social- and digital-native, passionate about social media platforms, storytelling and content creation for brands
- Strong familiarity with paid media planning on digital and social platforms, including Programmatic, Video, Premium, Display, and Connected TV buys
- Proficient with social marketing tools, analytics and reporting dashboards such as Sprinklr, Meltwater or similar
- Hands-on experience developing actionable insights from social listening data
- Highly informed and thoughtful perspectives on social platforms. Ability to adapt brand expression and campaign strategy to relevant social channel experiences and strategy
- Proficient in MS Office, Google Doc tools, and Keynote. Adobe Photoshop is a plus
- Highly collaborative, organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated
- Passionate team player and able to collaborate well across functional teams
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced working environment
- Adopts a challenging and questioning approach, proposing information and solutions in creative ways
