About The Role & Team

Join our dynamic team at Disney and play a pivotal role in enhancing and growing the EMEA business. We are looking for a creative visionary who can deliver outstanding, trend-right, and consumer-focused solutions. Your work will help maintain our beloved character equity and storytelling, while building the Disney Consumer Products business and increasing the visibility of the Disney brand. You will lead the design and development of packaging and branding assets, ensuring they resonate with diverse audiences across all categories. Your creativity will drive the creation of inclusive and innovative design tools that reflect the magic of Disney for everyone.

This position is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract, with the expectation to work from our London office four days a week.

What You Will You Do

  • Collaborate with the EMEA Branding/Packaging team to develop creative assets that drive growth for Disney franchises. This includes trend research, initial concepts, final artwork for packaging style guides, individual packaging projects, and packaging pitches.
  • Partner with other consumer segments and product design teams to ensure creative alignment and support on broader projects as needed.
  • Ensure all assets meet creative and technical standards before approval by the Senior Branding Design Manager and other key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of trend boards and new ideas (ideation) that bring innovation and freshness to future projects, building on existing strategies.
  • Adhere to corporate guidelines, ensuring character and design consistency and integrity in all work produced.
  • Foster effective relationships within the wider creative community, leveraging their expertise to create relevant designs that push boundaries.
  • Attend trade shows as needed to gain insights into the EMEA marketplace, seeking out new ideas and creative solutions to better understand the business.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions with internal and external teams.
  • Provide necessary creative support, such as downloading, backing up, archiving, and creating digital presentations.
  • Collaborate closely with product teams, designers, and artists to maintain character and franchise integrity, ensuring synchronized design and art styles.
  • Work with the Line Manager to plan projects effectively, meeting deadlines and staying within budgets.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven commercial design experience in packaging at a Design Agency, Licensee, Retail head office or Supplier 
  • Strong background in brand packaging design
  • Ability to create both foundational design solutions and innovative, trend-right styles.
  • Awareness of marketplace trends in the design environment, with the ability to translate new concepts into marketable, saleable packaging for products.
  • Proficiency in understanding and applying color theory and usage.
  • Capability to work with and create cutter guides.
  • Skilled in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and other creative suite packages.
  • Talent for inventively integrating DISNEY, PIXAR, STAR WARS, MARVEL, and Nat Geo into packaging design.
  • Expert understanding of all elements of design: illustration, pattern, page layout, color, packaging design, pack engineering, cutter guide generation, generating packaging artwork, and new trends, with the ability to create new graphic design assets and packaging from scratch.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently to achieve goals.
  • Strong understanding of Disney characters and storytelling, and how they translate to product and packaging.
  • Conceptual thinker who can think “outside the box.”
