Are you someone who loves using data for forecasting and business insights? The Manager, Business Analytics, and Insights (BA&I) will act as a business partner to licensing retail, brand and category leaders responsible for the insights, forecasting, and market share analysis!
The position reports to the Sr. Manager, Business Analytics and Insights.
What You Will Do:
Reporting and Data Management
- Lead development, design, and distribution of account specific weekly, category, seasonal, or franchise based reporting for retail teams. This includes data visualizations and performance recaps with high level insights on trending, key drivers, risks/opportunities, and contextual comparisons to internal and external benchmarks. Continuously standardize and automate analytic templates and processes to optimize organizational efficiency.
- Conduct regular presentations and read-outs to internal Sales and Marketing teams on overall business performance, critical metrics, and trend to forecasts and budgets.
- Lead all aspects of weekly account data activation, delivery, attribution, and restatement processes. Collaborate with internal IT teams and mapping analysts to ensure consistency, completeness, and accuracy of data attribution to minimize disruptions to downstream reporting and analytics workflows.
- Lead new retailer data onboarding efforts including business requirements, integration, and QA testing workflows.
Analytics
- Identify and size incremental account growth and white space opportunities at both the Franchise/Property and Category/ Subcategory level through data mining of internal POS, syndicated data sources, shopper analytics, market share benchmarking, and industry analyst research.
- Drive analytics for high visibility, executive business meeting presentations and pitches with retailer buyers collaborating with internal Sales, Retail Marketing, Franchise, and Retail Brand Development teams to sell-in incremental programs, defend existing placements, or makes reason to support our brands vs. competitors with compelling insights and storytelling from a potential revenue, margin, or incremental audience segment POV.
- Ability to conduct root cause analyses to explain key drivers of business performance and variances when multiple factors can confound conclusions such as seasonality, content slate differences, product set changes, assortment/pricing variances, supply chain distribution impacts, weather related store closures, etc.
- Develop data and regression analysis on longitudinal data sets for franchise based lifecycle modeling on launch, sustain, and decay patterns to understand impact of different types of content support (theatrical, home entertainment, streaming, short form) and associated retail sales potential on future releases.
Planning and Forecasting
- Lead account Annual Operating Plan and 5 year strategic plan retail sales forecasting and initiative sizing process by franchise and category, aligning with overall retail and company financial goals, but differentiating based on account specific priorities, strategies, and outlook.
- Develop quarterly account level forecasts by franchise and category using current and historical sales data, industry trends, seasonality, future retailer programs, brand plans, and qualitative intelligence on buyer and licensee sentiment to sensitize and accurately project sales for fiscal year and identify upside or downside risks to plan.
- Liaison with cross-functional partners to formulate 2-year sales outlook for Retail Planning Meetings by using historical sales and comparable titles. Collaborate with adjacent business verticals (Home Entertainment, Games, Publishing) to devise financial targets.
- Build custom revenue forecast models with predictive outcomes for specific initiatives and projects through triangulation of internal, industry, qualitative, and publicly available data and information to determine incremental revenue opportunities, spend return on investments, and optimization recommendations.
- Lead pre-launch sales planning by subcategory for new property launches and initiatives through SKU level build up, internal and external comp analyses, and SKU breadth and productivity assumptions.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5 years of Business, Retail, Planning, Data Analytics, or Finance experience.
- High level of proficiency with Excel, Oracle forecasting and planning systems (or their equivalent), and Business Intelligence/Data Visualization tools (Microstrategy, Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience working with large data sets and ability to discern patterns.
- Understanding of data loading, warehousing, business logic, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
- Experience using third party syndicated data, research, and platforms.
- Validated ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Highly organized and ability to lead multiple assignments simultaneously with limited direction.
- Ability to interpret data, identify insights, and communicate into actionable strategies.
- Comfort with ambiguity while leading projects, inclination to find efficiencies and problem-solve for roadblocks.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Data Analytics, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or other quantitative field

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $113,800 to $152,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
