About the Role & Team

At Disney, we are storytellers. We make the impossible, possible. We can do this through using and developing groundbreaking technology and opening up the boundaries to bring stories to life through our movies, products, interactive games, parks and resorts, and media networks. Now is your chance to join our team in delivering unparalleled creative content to audiences around the world!

When we grow and develop our people, we’re investing in our future. As forward-looking Human Resources professionals, we are the champions of this investment. The Human Resources team does so much more than just support our employees…we engage our people, inspire change, and help our businesses achieve results. How do we do this? By shaping the employee experience on all levels. By collaborating with our clients to create and implement innovative business strategies. By being a true thought partner and proactively anticipating business cycles. By fostering leadership success and being leaders in change management. By enabling thoughtful decisions, using business data, metrics, and external market insights. As a forward-looking HR professional supporting our Disney Entertainment and ESPN Technology (DE&E Technology) organization, you will serve as a strategic business partner to senior leadership by developing and delivering integrated and inclusive HR Services Strategy Development, Organization Design, Talent Management, Organizational Effectiveness, Change & Transition Management, DE&I, and Functional HR Integration.

The Senior Manager, HR Business Partner will contribute to and lead the execution of human resources strategies and solutions to support the needs of the Engineering Services organization. As the Senior Manager, you will lead and facilitate all HR programs and strategies in support of the client group through deep collaboration with the clients, HR functional groups, and other HR business partners. This role will guide the HRBP team and proactively assess business and organizational performance to develop HR solutions that enable business strategies, cultivate leadership success, and drive the employee experience.

What You Will Do

  • Provide strategic HR leadership and consultation focused on creating innovative HR strategies to anticipate and assess emerging business, organization, or people trends and identify and implement the appropriate Human Resource solutions.
  • Lead a team of HR professionals at various levels.
  • Establish and maintain an intimate understanding of the client organizations and the business, in support of building effective and productive working relationships with internal partners and clients at all levels of the organization.
  • Plan and lead organization design projects to streamline and implement new structures, roles, and/or processes that create speed and efficiency and support rapidly shifting business demands.
  • Develop thoughtful, integrated approaches to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization, business plans, and all facets of talent attraction, development, and retention.
  • Coach business leaders on HR policies and processes, including talent planning, learning and development, and performance management to promote engagement and a culture of continuous growth and development.
  • Translate near and long-term operating goals into HR processes, projects, and assignments and integrate and initiate the work with key stakeholders and functional partners to ensure appropriate solutions are delivered to support business strategies.
  • Proactively assess business and organizational performance to recommend and drive data driven action that support strategic objectives through a consultative, “influence without authority” approach.
  • Provide expertise in the areas of leadership and executive team development, organization and employee effectiveness, and meeting design/facilitation with a bias toward building client capability.
  • Coach business leaders on key organizational and management issues.
  • Plan and facilitate work sessions to develop business strategies (i.e. vision, mission, value, objectives) that help support organizational focus, efficiency, speed, and business results.
  • Create and implement a lifecycle approach to talent management focused on forecasting, staffing, on-boarding, development, performance management, career/succession planning, talent movement, and retention, using people analytics and insights.
  • Partner with SMEs and regional leads across global locations on a wide scale of talent management processes and ensure talent objectives are aligned to business goals.
  • Use understanding of individual and organizational dynamics to facilitate talent movement into and throughout the organization.
  • Assess employee training and development needs based on business strategy in order to help close gaps between current and future skills.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience as an HR Business Partner with specific experience in strategy development, organizational design, talent management and change management.
  • Experience leading others, with a track record of effectively mentoring and developing employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and partner within a diverse organization to help drive business results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and manage ambiguity – dealing with issues that do not always have a process or a system in place.
  • Ability to position self as credible (garner respect, act with integrity, keep commitments), proactive (have a point of view, challenge assumptions, take initiative), and a trusted thought partner (build relationships, deliver results).
  • Independent work style, balancing the need for collaboration with minimal direction.
  • Equally adept at advising, thinking strategically, and executing. Exhibits a roll-up-your-sleeves demeanor.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to balance business partnering skills with employee advocacy.
