Government Relations Manager (Disneyland Resort)
Job Summary:
The Government Relations Manager (Disneyland Resort) is a skilled, experienced subject matter expert who advances DLR’s government relations strategy within the Disney Experiences segment by building trusted relationships with government officials, industry associations, and community partners.
Responsibilities:
In this role you will assist the Government Relations team in executing projects, interacting with key stakeholders, and strategizing on priority projects to promote the business.
The Government Relations Manager will serve as an advocate for Disneyland Resort in the public policy arena and with key organizations as well as governmental and community leaders. You will be responsible for building and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders from the Anaheim community, city and county/regional leaders. Tracking local issues that impact the resort and the tourism industry is part of this role. You may also represent DLR on external boards. This role will assist in the execution of requests from elected leaders and provide support for event activations.
Additionally, this role will be crucial as we advance key business objectives, including legislative visits and construction support. This role will assist in developing recommendations, conducting research, and engaging in strategic sessions with leaders.
This role will assist in all phases of a project- assess and anaylze key issues, develop recommendations, obtain approval from leaders and execute projects.
- Lead the monitoring/research of upcoming city council, regional agency, state legislative and industry association meetings that directly/indirectly impact business operations, including reviewing agendas and attending meetings.
- Manage construction outreach and communication with local neighbors and businesses.
- Lead strategy sessions with cross functional teams to consolidate and analyze data/information for briefings with key stakeholders.
- Work with internal and external partners to plan, support, and execute special events on property and in the community.
- Analyze/identify trends from industry and government meetings and share with key stakeholders.
- Event activation and support including managing requests for tickets and VIP viewings for government, community, and business leaders.
- Manage and schedule quarterly meetings, site tours and business overview briefings with government officials, community, and business leaders.
- Manage communication with government officials, community, and business leaders; including drafting letters, e-newsletters, and website updates.
- Manage and maintain stakeholder contact management system.
- Manage and oversee elected officials and foreign diplomatic visits to DLR and gifts, including tracking and reporting gifts to government officials for necessary FPPC and FCPA compliance.
- Lead preparation of policy memos, meeting prep and support drafting of policy memos, and fact sheets.
- Develop strategy in response to upcoming legislative and regulatory proposals.
- Assist with the planning, execution, and evaluation of all Government Relations strategies.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working in government or public affairs.
- Solid understanding of the political process, municipal operations, and local government.
- Ability to work well with diverse groups, industry associations, and community partners.
- Strong presentation development skills.
- Critical thinking and analytical problem solving skills.
- Ability to function in an ambiguous work environment.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and/or Mac OS environment.
- Experience with project management, reputation enhancement, and strategic thinking.
- Ability to prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Very high level of attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Government experience (campaign, district office, or industry relations).
- Experience with Anaheim community or industry associations.
- Strong creative skills with ability to design and develop collateral and communications materials.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Political Science, Public Affairs, Public Admin, Social Sciences, etc)

The hiring range for this position in California is $115,500.00 to $154,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
