Disney Consumer Products (DCP) is the division of Disney Experiences that brings beloved brands and franchises into the daily lives of families and fans through products — including toys, t-shirts, apps, books, and more — and experiences that can be found around the world. This includes on the Disney Store e-commerce platform, Disney Parks, local and international retailers, and Disney Store locations globally. The business is home to world-class teams of experts in product, licensing, and retail; artists and storytellers; and technologists who inspire imaginations around the world.
About Global Merchandise Sourcing
Global Merchandise Sourcing team handles all apparel development and production of Disney’s consumer products end to end. The team handles all styles from point of tech pack development, sample creation, costing, tech approvals and eventual bulk production and shipment of these products to the global Disney Parks and Disney Stores. We manage and work with our vendor source base and collaborate with our Disney Design and Merchandising teams on day-to-day level.
About the Role
The Senior Manager, Global Merchandise Sourcing is responsible for leading Sourcing within the Global Merchandise Sourcing organization. The Senior Manager, Global Merchandise Sourcing has responsibility for ensuring the development and execution of short-term (seasonal) and long-term sourcing strategies that support the creative direction while ensuring margin objectives and all other high-level business deliverables are met or exceeded. The Senior Manager is expected to support and drive team and suppliers to meet company’s goal.
Product categories include softlines and hardlines.
Responsibilities:
- Develops, mentors and trains teams providing appropriate direction, resources and environment needed for success.
- Manages global initiatives, projects, processes & resources to produce desired outcomes (Ensures that appropriate processes are launched and utilized to deliver safe products and environments for both Cast & Guests)
- Engages suppliers & colleagues across the organization to optimize performance, ensure Disney Quality Requirements and drive innovation beyond a specific "buy" or purchase order (drives continuous improvement internally and within supply base to elevate supplier performance with measurable results).
- Educates & cultivates suppliers to ensure production & development of project meets desired timeline
- Oversees the development of short and long-term sourcing strategies for managed categories, setting priorities, objectives, and action plans to improve supply base and mitigate risk with measurable accountability.
- Travels domestically and internationally to evaluate the viability of worldwide market opportunities, build vendor relationships, and continuously expand product knowledge/expertise.
- Drives market exploration and diversification.
- Uses product knowledge to drive leveraging opportunities across the segment and/or other Disney lines of businesses.
- Assists in the monthly business review process; collecting, tracking, and measuring cost mitigation efforts by business site, Department, Product, etc.
- Proposes and implements solutions to achieve sourcing strategies for global site-specific items
- Manages best-in-class vendor base strategies to maximize profitability and minimize risk so that vendor base shows measurable progress in all managed categories (earns the trust & respect of suppliers through facilitating win-win situations).
- Actively engaged and highly familiar with advanced features and functionality of existing sourcing technology (suggests new uses for existing technology, as well as new technologies altogether).
- Drives profitability over divisional categories ensuring the proactive monitoring of mix and cause of change drivers and aggressive value engineering and negotiation efforts.
- Uses product and market knowledge to oversee the achievement of product category margin goals.
- Identifies opportunities to leverage cross-category tools, information, processes and resources to optimize organizational performance and support.
- Mitigates cost increases with creative solutions based on supply chain leveraging, value engineering and market shifts.
- Seeks, develops and drives innovative negotiation strategies that lead to significant cost and/or efficiency savings.
- Applies appropriate analytics to achieve optimal total acquisition cost agreements.
- Anticipates market behavior, develops, and drives associated supplier strategies to mitigate risk, protect the Disney brand and achieve competitive advantage.
- Articulates and reports out on market trends, key economic indicators, and geopolitical risk, along with their associated impact on sourcing strategies. Develops and monitors priorities, objectives & action plans in response.
- Uses understanding of product knowledge/markets by product category to support the creation of the supplier bidding strategy.
- Develops and/or maintains a stable, socially compliant supply base that is 100% compliant in meeting all ILS and regulatory standards and other established supplier performance requirements.
- Uses tools to manage & mitigate risk, uncertainty, and threats to ensure continuity of supply, cost control, and quality assurance.
Requirements:
- 10 to 12 years’ experience in Global Sourcing, Product Development, or equivalent
- Drive and assist to develop clear and consistent strategies to achieve the organizational vision.
- Demonstrates great leadership skills, proactively recruits, retains, and develops a diverse range of talented people.
- Translates strategy into specific priorities, objectives, and action plans; driving large scale initiatives that reshape global business processes
- Develops appropriate metrics and drives executive reporting to assess business performance.
- Uses knowledge of the company's products and services to manage the needs of diverse stakeholders (Collaborating with both cross-functional teams and vendors)
- Establishes and nurtures critical internal and external partnerships and alliances.
- Proactively seeks new opportunities, ideas, techniques, and materials to drive product innovation with both new and existing suppliers.
- Leverages synergy opportunities across functions and business
- Examines issues from a broad perspective, considering impact beyond immediate scope (Makes sound business decisions that balance competing priorities)
- Manages projects, processes, and resources to produce desired outcomes.

Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Product-specific technical degree and/or manufacturing experience a plus
