About Disney Cruise Line Since launching in 1998, Disney Cruise Line has established itself as a leader in the cruise industry, providing a setting where families can reconnect, adults can recharge and children can experience all Disney has to offer. Today, the award-winning Disney Cruise Line continues to expand its blueprint for family cruising with a fleet of five ships — the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy and Disney Wish — and three more ships planned. One of these ships will exclusively homeport in Singapore for at least five years beginning in 2025, marking the cruise line’s debut in Southeast Asia.

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced Senior Manager in Public Relations to lead and navigate the communications strategy for Disney Cruise Line Singapore. A self-starter who can work autonomously and expertly lead the PR function for Disney Cruise Line Singapore. The senior manager will create and lead a proactive media relations program, editorial writing, PR event project management, creative content development, and all external media relations for our newest ship to Homeport in Singapore starting in 2025. This position will have a PR Manager and Events Manager reporting to them, and they will report to the Executive Director, Communications & Public Affairs APAC Disney Experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead a dynamic, fully integrated PR and media relations strategy to launch and support the DCL Singapore business in the APAC region.
  • Support PR and media relations strategy for DCL sailings in Australia.
  • Develop and execute proactive, compelling media relations programs, including itineraries, onboard experiences, stunts, media events and more. 
  • Ideate and write various types of editorial content across a wide breadth and depth of platforms.
  • Develop and enhance relationships with key journalists and stakeholders, pitching and shaping stories highlighting key business priorities.
  • Develop and lead efforts to maximize social media and online tools to drive and support the effective communications of key business messages, creating and producing engaging video and photo content, both editorial and creative.
  • PR Event Management - working with outside agency support that will include creative planning, development, budget management, production, execution and post-event evaluation/recap.
  • Serve as the central communications point for all critical stakeholders on event-related details.

Critical success factors for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing and editing: Talent for crafting and editing a wide range of materials to the highest of standards with a keen eye for detail. Proven ability to adapt to different styles, including press releases, fact sheets, blog posts, key messages, talking points, video scripts, social copy and more.
  • Storytelling: Extensive experience identifying stories and pitching story ideas to editors, business leaders and partners. 
  • Building relationships: Proven track record of establishing productive business connections with media contacts and securing coverage in new outlets and platforms.
  • Production: Background in producing and partnering with others to create multimedia assets such as photography, video and digital materials to support media advocacy and editorial storytelling.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: All DX communication reflects the company’s commitment to Inclusion, and the Senior PR Manager, the PR manager, and the events manager must maintain this throughout planning, creation, and delivery.
  • Business acumen: Ability to align stories, messaging, campaigns, and other work with broader business objectives, strategies, and goals. Ability to communicate and engage with C-suite executives.
  • Project management: Experience executing tactics from start to finish (including PR events, announcements, stunts, productions and more), managing budgets and measuring results.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience with demonstrated success in communications and public relations
  • Deep knowledge of the earned media landscape across SEA, and the APAC region
  • Extensive experience working with media, including digital, broadcast and print with a track record of placing and shaping stories. Existing relationships preferred
  • Understanding of the SEA, and APAC Travel industry, cruise industry experience preferred.
  • Understanding of social media platforms, concepts and strategy
  • Proven ability to generate big ideas and create compelling public relations campaigns for maximum coverage
  • Experience advising and collaborating with cross-functional client teams and stakeholders to design and deliver effective communications strategies.
  • Experience in PR event project management and the ability to structure and manage multiple initiatives at the same time and drive them to completion
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends with the ability to travel (25%) on both the ship, and across APAC Markets

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Communications, Public Relations) or equivalent work experience
